Saturday
I’m feeling extra fashion this week I guess, but has anyone else checked out Saturday.com? It’s Kate Spade’s newest brand and I’m already head over heels. It reminds me a lot of Kate Spade and I’m especially loving their dresses! And those notebooks? Sign me up!
Speaking of Saturday, we’re going to see Book of Mormon this weekend! Have a great one!
Madewell Chicago
Yesterday, Madewell opened their shiny new Chicago store on Rush Street, so Christine, Arleigh and I headed down to check it out. Not only was I excited to see the store and do a little shopping, but it was the perfect excuse to get out of the house and catch up with friends over dinner.
After a fair amount of browsing, I left with a beautiful eyelet yellow dress and two really awesome t-shirts in heathered grey & summer sky. The dress fit perfectly, and the only downside is that I have to wait until it gets warm enough to actually wear it. As for those t-shirts, those will soon be on heavy rotation. I really liked the weight of these, especially the grey one, and selected a size up from what I normally get because I wanted them a little bit looser. You can never have enough of the basics, right?
We moved over to Luxbar for a drink and dinner before calling it a night. It was the perfect weekday outing and definitely has got me in the mood for spring! If it ever gets here..
Anyway, happy Thursday, I’m hoping to share some more exciting things in the next week, so it’s back to work. Oh, but one last thing, can you believe this was a Starbuck’s before??? Such a cool space.

P.S. Happy birthday to my beautiful mama! Her & my dad are heading to Palm Springs today, talk about a sweet birthday celebration!
Office Attire
Since my job doesn’t require me to dress business casual (thank goodness, I suck at it), I usually fall back on something that’s more me. And overall that means comfortable. Not sweatpants-comfortable, although I do have those days more than I’d like to admit, but cute-comfortable.
A sweater (kind of obsessed with the back on this one), pair of jeans, and yes, sometimes even heels. Even though no one really sees me or my outfit, there’s something empowering about throwing on a pair of heels and getting down to business that I swear makes me more productive. I always manage to get more work done, clean the house and all before 6 at night! I’m on to something here, but that’s really a whole new topic…
Long days spent in front of the computer designing call for my glasses. I’m far-sighted and recently found out my old prescription was 2x too strong! It’s really sad that the first optometrist was that far off, but I finally got the right one and I’m seeing things again! I was relieved to figure that out because I was seriously starting to think I was going blind.
Anyyyway, in the midst of my excitement, I’ve been browsing new frames and I’m in love with these from Warby Parker. If it wasn’t so expensive to have my prescription put in glasses I’d probably have 10 different pairs.
I know my office attire isn’t the norm, but I still like to spice it up a bit. What’s your go-to office attire these days?
** A big thanks to Casey & Holly for featuring me in their new guest series ‘Bloggers We Love’! I adore their blog and wish Casey and I were still in school together. Please, go check out their site & post on yours truly!
White Out
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9
Happy Friday people! In honor of the still frigid temps I decided I’d share my favorite whites. They remind me of snow and frost and also spring. Which seriously couldn’t get here fast enough. I love white in my closet and in my house. I tend to dress more in neutral colors, but strangely don’t have much white. That’ll need to be fixed this spring. As for the home, I’m drawn to colors, but I like to take a step back and tone the color back with good white pieces.
This week has been a crazy one, and I’m ready for some serious weekend relaxation! My friend Paige and I are taking a woodworking class where we make a bench on Saturday afternoon, I’ve got two friends birthdays and then Sunday I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing. Maybe I’ll paint a bit to relieve the stress from the week, but mostly nothing. What do you have going on this weekend?

My sister got in town last Thursday for the second half of her last spring break. Her last visit was during the NATO conference and we avoided downtown because of all the crowds and protestors, so this visit, I had to take her down to the all the big touristy things. We spent Thursday and Friday catching up, touring Chicago and eating and drinking lots of tasty things at a few of my favorite places.
Thursday we dropped off Kat’s goodies and headed to lunch on Southport. I wore my favorite skinny jeans, a comfortable and cute sweater, boots and my new spikey necklace. After our long lunch, we headed back to my house to relax and do more catching up before we went out to dinner. Even though it was cold, we got lucky and the sun came out. We finished our afternoon with a stroll around Lincoln Park with Oliver and eventually dinner at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba — awesome tapas and sangria!
Friday we slept in and lazied over a two hour breakfast and then hopped on the train to go to the Loop. We headed down to the Cloud Gate, aka, ‘the bean’, then strolled down Michigan Ave in the rain. We made a pit stop at the Hancock Tower for drinks at the top. I took her to Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder for dinner and an early night before the big St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
St. Patrick’s Day was a blast, and Sunday was spent recovering and cleaning up the house before getting started on the next week. How was your weekend? Hopefully it was a good one!
