Unwind

This Sunday was exactly the kind of morning that I think of when picturing a perfect weekend morning. I slept in, but not too late. I took Oliver on a long walk and came home and made a big pot of coffee and then retreated to the couch for some quiet time.

I adore my living room in the mornings. It has the most windows of any space in our apartment and the sun pours into it in the early hours of the day, making it one of my favorite places to cuddle up and just be on weekend mornings. I love the way the sun shines in and warms my back and so does Oliver. The only time he moves is to readjust his spot for optimal sunning – smart boy.

It’s perfectly quiet and just so peaceful. If only I could find time to do this every morning. I was feeling very alive and inspired in that moment so I figured why the heck not blog about it. A still and chilly morning paired with a hot cup of joe seemed to make the words flow a little better. It’s the perfect place to reflect on all the things I’m thankful for and take a breather and just do nothing before another week starts.

Being who I am, I’m honestly not that great at doing absolutely nothing, so while ‘doing nothing’ I made a list of all the projects I want to tackle before (or maybe after) winter is over. And with such a clear mind, I even thought of a few new ones. Sometimes I wish I could just shut that part of my brain off while I get caught up on the other things on my list, but then again, I actually don’t. That’s my favorite part of my brain.

Anyway, I think its’s so important to have time like this in your life, even if it only happens once a week. It’s so special to have a place in your home where you feel so comfortable, cozy and happy. I think that’s why I justify spending money on decorating and making my place warm and fuzzy and how I’ll never understand the people who just don’t care about it. So now that I’ve described my perfect place to unwind and recharge, I want to hear about yours. Is it a room, a coffee shop, your patio? And what makes it so special?

My Grandmothers deck in the country. Especially when it is nice and sunny. Gorgeous. But here at home I would have to say my craft room. It has gigantic windows that let in the sunlight.

Melissa that sounds wonderful! I’d give anything for warm weather so I could be outside. The craft room sounds like a nice alternative though :)
